AIPAC Urges Obama Administration to Veto Destructive UNSC Resolution

AIPAC strongly urges the Obama Administration to veto the destructive resolution now being prepared for consideration by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Overwhelming bipartisan majorities of both the Senate and House of Representatives have recently urged the administration to veto any such one-sided, anti-Israel resolutions, and the administration must make clear that it is prepared to do so. The United Nations is not the proper venue to resolve this conflict–that must be accomplished through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

Unfortunately, Palestinian leadership has refused to return to talks with Israel and has continued to incite violence. A UNSC resolution would only reward this negative strategy and undermine efforts to truly pursue a lasting peace.

The Obama Administration should reaffirm America’s long-standing position and oppose any one-sided, biased resolutions put forward at the U.N., to avoid undermining the prospects of the two parties resuming productive, direct negotiations.
