AIPAC President Howard Friedman and Executive Director Howard Kohr released the following statement.
"AIPAC applauds the Bush Administration's decision to sanction foreign companies for providing illicit support to Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Foreign companies must be made to understand that there are direct consequences if they choose to aid the Islamic Republic's pursuit of atomic arms.
"Firms that provide this type of backdoor economic support to Tehran threaten international efforts to persuade Iran to suspend its nuclear program and become a responsible world player.
"The Iran Nonproliferation Act has proven to be a critical U.S. diplomatic tool. This announcement makes clear that the White House is committed to ensuring Tehran is not permitted to possess the world's most dangerous weapons.
"It is our continued hope that our allies will join the United States in its efforts to isolate this radical regime."
