AIPAC Summer Seminar Series Broadens the Base for Fall Activism

More than 500 students and young professionals participated in the third and final forum of this year’s Summer Seminar Series. The event featured House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY), who shared their commitment to the U.S.-Israel alliance and stressed the critical importance of America’s continued support for the Jewish state.

The forum concluded AIPAC’s 2012 Summer Seminar Series, which succeeded in engaging more than one thousand students from hundreds of college campuses throughout the summer. The seminars attracted more than 300 individuals without previous AIPAC involvement and over 500 students committed to supporting AIPAC’s initiatives on college campuses this fall. Each seminar attracted Washington-based interns and young professionals from nearly 70 house and senate offices.

Under the direction of Leadership Development Diamond Summer Interns Sydney Sapper and Jeremy Sherman, all D.C.-based Diamond Summer Interns played a critical role in promoting and organizing this year’s Summer Seminar Series. Through face-to-face meetings and interactions with participants online, AIPAC Diamond Summer Interns recruited and nurtured relationships with hundreds of new student assets, engaging them in meaningful conversations about AIPAC’s mission and work on campus.

The Leadership Development Department thanks the Diamond Summer Interns for their outstanding contributions to the 2012 Summer Seminar Series, and acknowledges their extraordinary success in broadening AIPAC’s movement of pro-Israel political activists throughout the country.
