Fall Campus Initiatives

2012 Fall Campus Initiatives

Supporting Pro-Israel Congressional Candidates:

AIPAC-trained students will broaden the base to include previously uninvolved pro-Israel students in 2012 political activity while ensuring that politically-minded students understand the key issues most important to the pro-Israel community. To maximize their impact on the 2012 election, AIPAC-trained activists will support pro-Israel candidates of their choice by committing to:

• Raise and deliver $1,000 dollars in a pro-Israel context, and
• Solicit and mobilize a minimum of 500 volunteer hours.

By getting involved in Congressional races, campus activists will interact with key political figures, build important relationships, and help influence policy-makers now and into the future.

Communicating the Iranian Threat to American Security & Values:

Amidst increasingly tough sanctions and ongoing negotiations, Iran continues its quest for a nuclear weapons capability unabated. This fall, AIPAC-trained students will make the case that a nuclear Iran threatens America and her interests. They will do so by:

• Publishing opinion pieces in campus newspapers and securing the co-authorship of mainstream student leaders to those pieces.
• Organizing campus leadership statements.
• Working with student governments to pass student government resolutions about the threat.
• Encouraging new candidates for Congress to draft position papers.

By presenting these statements to their elected representatives, pro-Israel students are positioned to demonstrate to both current and future American policy makers that preventing Iran from gaining a nuclear weapons capability is in the United States’ national interest.

Educating Campus Leaders:

Building genuine relationships with today’s campus leaders requires that pro-Israel activists become trusted sources of information on the issues impacting the U.S.-Israel alliance. Once relationships have been built, AIPAC-trained students are uniquely positioned to provide ongoing education to tomorrow’s political leaders about the value of strong ties between the United States and Israel.

They can do so by:

• Developing a regular biweekly compilation of reliable news, legislative updates, and issues of importance to the pro-Israel community.
• Hosting student leaders for a Campus Leadership Reception (CLR) with members of AIPAC’s professional staff and/or prominent local AIPAC lay leaders.
• Developing a monthly curriculum designed to provide up-and-coming champions of the U.S.-Israel relationship on campus with advanced training in AIPAC’s unique methodology.
