Student Accomplishments Celebrated

AIPAC hosted its annual Campus Awards Dinner Sunday night, recognizing the most accomplished AIPAC-trained student activists and supportive campus professionals in the nation.

The event’s top honor, the Duke Rudman Leadership Award, went to the students at Brigham Young University (BYU) for pioneering new models of pro-Israel political leadership on and beyond their campus. These students distinguished themselves by securing passage of a resolution in both their state Senate and House aimed at strengthening economic ties between Utah and Israel.

Students on four other campuses—Tulane University, University of Oregon, University of Colorado, and University of Pennsylvania—received Activist of the Year Awards in recognition of their outstanding pro-Israel political activity during the 2011-2012 school year.

Advocate of the Year honors were awarded to Eric Schorr of Columbia University, AEPi Fraternity Director of Jewish and Philanthropy Programming Adam Teitelbaum, and The David Project Executive Director David Bernstein. The Advocate of the Year Award honors inspiring individuals who demonstrate advocacy at its best and—with courage and conviction—exert a compelling influence on a national level.

Finally, in recognition of the instrumental role of campus partners in guiding student activism, AIPAC honored three exceptional professionals with Ally of the Year Awards: Rabbi Mike Uram, Director of Hillel at the University of Pennsylvania; Rabbi Yehuda Oratz, of Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School in Baltimore, MD; and Ido Adulamy, Israel Fellow at the University of Southern California.
