Student Government Presidents Support U.S.-Israel Alliance
The largest number of Geller Student Government Association Presidents ever assembled at an AIPAC Policy Conference have joined national and state leaders of the College Democrats of America and College Republican National Committee to demonstrate their support for the U.S.-Israel alliance. The 217 Geller Student Government Association Presidents hail from all 50 states and most are attending their first AIPAC Policy Conference. Their campuses include: Idaho State University, Smith College, University of Mississippi, Florida International University, University of Michigan, University of Alaska and Stanford University.
These young leaders gathered for a banquet dinner on Saturday night to hear from AIPAC National Council member Marty Geller, College Democrats of America President Alejandra Salinas, College Republican National Committee Chairman Alex Shriver, and Indiana University Student Government Association President Justin Kingsolver.
In the past, Student Governments have passed resolutions supporting Israel, and this year a number of them have blocked anti-Israel divestment efforts.
Several former campus activists now holding political office will address and engage Policy Conference delegates: South Carolina State Rep. Bakari Sellers (Morehouse ‘05), Pennsylvania State Rep. Nick Miccarelli (University of Pennsylvania ‘07), and Howard County Maryland Executive Ken Ulman (University of Maryland – College Park ’97).
