About 13,000 pro-Israel activists from all 50 states will fill the halls of the Washington Convention Center today for the start of AIPAC Policy Conference 2013. The theme for this year's conference is "Shaping Tomorrow Together."
Conference programming will highlight the ways Americans and Israelis are working together to build a prosperous future in all spheres, from scientific innovation and military marvels, to medical breakthroughs and humanitarian projects. Delegates will see how the United States and Israel are helping paraplegics walk again with the ReWalk, shooting rockets out of the sky with the Iron Dome, developing agricultural projects in Africa and much more.
Here at Policy Conference, too, delegates are shaping tomorrow together. Over the next three days, America's most devoted pro-Israel activists will gather in one building, taking advantage of the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people who share a common goal—a strong U.S.-Israel relationship.
Indeed, the friendship between the two allies can only prosper if pro-Israel activists get to know each other. You never know what can develop from a simple "hello." Initiate a conversation with the people sitting next to you, introduce yourself to an AIPAC staffer and exchange business cards before moving on to your next session.
The next three days have the potential to set the course for the next three decades. Let's make the most of them.
