In an exchange of letters with President George W. Bush, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon accepts the Roadmap, calling it “a practical and just formula... for the achievement of peace.”  Sharon agrees with Bush that a Palestinian state “will never be created by terror, and Palestinians must engage in a sustained fight against the terrorists and dismantle their infrastructure.”  Sharon also informs Bush of his decision to implement the Disengagement Plan -- a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank.  He also says he aims to accelerate the construction of the security fence.
