Roles and Responsibilities
  • Guide development and implementation of a comprehensive government affairs strategy to promote U.S.-Israel Homeland Security cooperation that includes the following: research and analyses; support for congressional lobbying; executive branch outreach; coordination as necessary with relevant third-party groups, organizations, and associations; and a membership education plan.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with governmental or congressional offices for which the Assistant Director has been assigned responsibility. 
  • Remain current on issues within the area of Homeland Security and serve as a resource regarding those issues for executive branch officials, Members of Congress, their staff, the AIPAC staff and AIPAC members.
  • Draft talking points, memos, and create presentations for a variety of audiences, covering AIPAC's legislative and policy agenda.
  • Occasionally speak at AIPAC events and third-party forums, discussing a particular area of expertise in addition to AIPAC's broader policy agenda.
  • Effectively manage staff as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the policy-making and legislative processes.
  • Subject area expertise regarding Homeland Security issues and general knowledge of Mideast issues.
  • Extensive experience with policy research, development and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the laws, regulations and rules governing lobbying the Legislative and Executive branches. 
  • Experience advocating policy positions.
  • Ability to make presentations to large audiences and represent the organization in public forums.
  • Ability to develop contacts, as needed, among private groups including think-tanks and research institutions.
  • Ability to draft talking points and policy memos, and create presentations covering AIPAC's policy agenda.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under considerable pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of governmental or relevant private-sector experience with a history of progressively more responsible positions.
  • Must have an undergraduate degree from accredited college or university.  Masters or professional degree strongly preferred.
  • Full competencies in the Microsoft Office Suite.
