Roles and Responsibilities
- Developing a rabbinic leadership structure to:
- Engage regional rabbis in pro-Israel politics
- Promote and encourage pro-Israel political activism among congregational leadership and congregants
- Develop local and/or regional AIPAC rabbinic councils
- Help compile and disseminate printed materials for use in synagogues
- Cultivating congregational lay-leadership to:
- Model pro-Israel activism and recruit new activists
- Organize pro-Israel congregants at the synagogue level
- Coordinate lay-leaders into larger AIPAC community
- Helping National and Regional staff determine which synagogues to target and developing a work plan for engaging targeted synagogues
- Representing and speaking for AIPAC at public speaking engagements, meetings, and events including:
- Parlor meetings
- Policy and legislative briefings
- Arrange for scholars and leading pro-Israel activists to speak at synagogues
- Other duties as assigned by the National Synagogue Initiative Director or Southeast Regional Director
Qualifications
- Passion for AIPAC's mission
- Bachelors degree and two years of work or commensurate experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Understanding of synagogue and rabbinic communities
- Ability to work with all streams of Judaism
- Significant travel required
- Jewish not-for-profit experience a plus
